Nothing To Sell

I am not joking! You do not need to have something to sell to earn money online. As your site becomes increasingly popular, you will be able to sell "visibility".
A strong and increasing flow of traffic to your site is very attractive to advertisers!
When hundreds or even thousands of individuals visit your site every day, advertisers will be very interested in placing ads on your site.
Get your traffic stats up, and you will be able to select the best and most profitable offers.
But, do not cheat by using questionable tactics to artificially pump your traffic stats up. You can only build a strong, long lasting, flow of traffic to your site by being honest and generous with useful information.
Build trust and the word will get around fast. Within months, your web business will rank among the top ten percent. You can even make the top one percent if your information is rare, abundant and reliable.
You can capitalize on your site's popularity and earn money online from several monetizing avenues that only require that your web site be popular. For example:
Google AdSense Program. Remember that Google has to answer to its own advertisers. If your site is just one big sales pitch, you will be excluded from the AdSense program. Your site must offer rich, useful content. If your application to the program is rejected on your first attempt, it will be considerably harder to be accepted later. Best ensure that you can meet the minimum requirements before applying.
Affiliations with online and offline merchants (i.e. Amazon.com). You will want to have only a few, high quality affiliations. In order to have access to the best, you will need bargaining power. High traffic to your site is the recognized currency! You earn a commission every time your referred visitor buys from the merchant.
Referral agreements with offline merchants. Get paid on a per-lead or per-sale basis. It is the web form of the "finders' fee". Again, a strong flow of traffic is required.
Statistically, individuals will return to your site up to six or seven times before they become a customer. You earn money online by making them want to return.
Is your site popular?
You now need to be able to answer that basic but crucial question. You cannot just install one of those free click counters that you find offered on the web. They blindly count clicks. Someone can sit there and literally "click your site to death", simply by automating the process.
People may be attracted once by an artificially popular web site. But, if they do not find the information they are looking for, they will not return. You cannot earn money online for long on false premises or promises.
The basic question on your site's popularity begs others like:
- How can you accurately measure the popularity of your web site?
- How do you differentiate the valid clicks from the cheaters and false ones?
- How do you tell a newcomer from a repeat visit?
- Where are the visitors coming from? Which country?
- Which of your pages are more popular?
- What keywords did your visitors use to find you?
- Are you blending in the right keywords into your useful content?
- How do you discover the most popular and theme-relevant keywords?
- How do you control referrals?
- How do you find out what is wrong when a given affiliation does not produce the expected results?
It is essential that you know the answers to above questions, and many more. You earn money online from your marketing efforts. These efforts will only be effective if you know what works, and why. The price to pay to earn online money.
Nothing is ever completely free. You will have to work your way up to reach the minimum popularity level required to attract advertisers. As an infopreneur, you must diversify your sources of income. You should plan to earn money online from a combination of advertising, affiliations and referrals.
It is generally recommended that you do not apply for the Google AdSense program until you have:
- at least 50 unique visitors per day and,
- at least 50 pages of excellent, useful content.
It will take you at least 3-4 months to reach those thresholds, if not more. The time it will take you will depend on:
- the amount of time you will be able to devote to your web business and
- the number of effective web business building services and resources you will have access to.
How about e-books?
There are many ways to earn or make online money. You can write and sell e-books on topics directly related to the theme of your web site.
You already write helpful information pages for your site. These pages are designed to help the visitor arrive at an informed decision.
However, you will ultimately want to sell the solution to a given need or problem. You are in business to make money, after all.
Consider e-books as additional helpful information to offer your visitors. They will become an additional way to earn money online.
