Entrepreneur Franchise
A Free Meal?

Many aspiring entrepreneurs consider an entrepreneur franchise (almost) as a "free meal". They also serve free meals in prison ... but the hidden price to pay is my freedom. I cannot afford that high a price.

Mind you, I have never been to prison. So who am I to know! ;-)

Harsh words ... for a harsh reality.

But I know of a more reasonable alternative to a franchise. So, I am letting you know about it, on the off chance that you had not heard of it.

But first ...

Advantages

Granted. Riding on someone else's well researched and well thought out business idea, one that has already been proven in the field ... is tempting, to say the least.

Simply put, all you need to do is apply the recipe as directed and everything will work out as expected.

After all, the business idea, in a franchise, has ...
already been tested. Right?

Again, that was simply put.

Nevertheless, this apparent simplicity explains why so many aspiring entrepreneurs are lured by the "ready made - one size fits all" appearance of a franchise.

Disadvantages

As I have already (harshly) pointed out, an entrepreneur franchise will force you to give up your freedom...

  • to innovate,
  • to adjust for changing market conditions,
  • to explore uncharted waters and looming opportunities.

In short, you abandon your right to do things your way. (The dissident, autonomous individual in me speaking up, here).

You are bound by contract to operate your franchise as directed ... or you risk losing your license to operate the said franchise.

If you can live with those restrictions
welcome, "you're in the army now"!

Oh! Nearly forgot to mention.

You will have to invest a sizeable amount of money - not counting the long list of guarantees you will have to offer in support of your worthiness - to acquire the right to be "awarded" a franchise by the franchiser.

You may not have all the money required. Therefore, you will have to see your bank manager for a loan ... and justify your right to breathe in the process.

I know. Harsh words again. Nevertheless, a stark reality.

The Alternative To A Franchise
For The Aspiring Entrepreneur

I submit that you - at least - investigate the possibility of going into business for yourself, by yourself, first.

That's what I did in 2005. I have never regretted my decision.

Instead of investing dangerously large amounts of money in someone else's idea ... I invested myself in researching, validating, and exploiting my own ideas.

I'm not a genius. Therefore, I used the SBI 2.0 proven marketing method and set of tools for aspiring entrepreneurs.

SBI! 2.0 The Only Web 2.0 Small Business Platform.

It worked. And I am not the only one in the world for whom it worked, either. Far from it.

Do consider investigating what SBI 2.0 has to offer.
It should be part of the necessary due diligence you should exercise
before committing yourself to an entrepreneur franchise
or any other business venture, for that matter.
