Fear of not living up to personal expectations

by Marylyn Broomhall
(Kilsyth, Australia)

Hello..This is a short story but hopefully of some help.

Years ago when I was at school, I developed a serious fear of taking exams. So much so that there were times when I literally froze and was unable to finish the test.

Now, all "Growed Up", on certain occasions when I am faced with a challenge, I still catch a glimpse of that old way of thinking.

This has held me back at times from stretching myself and moving forward. Obviously what this has produced is a deep rooted lack of confidence in my own abilities.

Decision making becomes quite a challenge when trust in one's own ability is on the line.

I looked up the definition of Aptitude and how it relates to me, "Smartness" being one of the words that shouted out at me and another one "Intelligence". Hmm, how about "Instinct"? Now that fits better with me. So an Aptitude test, taken relying on what my instincts tell me (of course after I have studied the information) I most likely would enjoy.

So far throughout my life I have needed to rely on my instincts at most times and I have always survived, battle scarred and weary but proud that I trusted myself.

At my age anyway, who cares if I get an answer wrong. The best tests to take are multiple choice, as then I don't have to rely on my memory!

I had a good time with this test and just for fun I purposely answered a question incorrectly (after first choosing what I knew instinctively was correct) just to see what would happen. Clever....back to the question and check my first instinctive answer. Told you so, I was correct.

Now I know that I have the ability to Build a Website all I need is the knowhow or better still, to save a lot of time, use the expertise of others who know how.

So had better get myself into gear and jump into the wonderful world of SBI. You guys seem to be having all the fun.

Warm regards

Marylyn Broomhall
