An Essential Self Evaluation

First, answer "YES" or "NO" to the following statements truthfully. Be honest with yourself. No one else but you is going to know what you answer here.

Beware! You can get yourself into a lot of trouble, if you lie to yourself!

STATEMENT YES NO
I welcome change.
I know myself well.
I always finish whatever I undertake.
I am sociable.
I am well organized.
I am not afraid of work, even if I know that it will take an undetermined amount of time before I can measure the results.
I am not afraid of making decisions, even if I know I might make a mistake.
I can take criticism, even if ill-intentioned. I adjust, if necessary, but I forge on.

Even free aptitude tests require deep introspection. Here are more statements to ponder.

STATEMENT YES NO
When I know I'm right, I like to convince others, and generally succeed in doing so.
I like to challenge myself in sports, but do not like team sports.
I believe money is a good indicator of success.
I know what I am capable of, and I like taking on new challenges enthusiastically. I am generally realistically and reasonably optimistic about the results.
Success is a matter of will power and self discipline. Whatever happens to me is the result of my own actions, or inactions.
I can communicate my enthusiasm easily, and win people over to my cause.
I look forward to knowing the results of my actions, and I make sure to find out.
I like to take calculated risks in life.
I am confident that I will succeed, when I undertake something difficult.
I can do many things at once, and can solve problems quickly.

How's it going? Our free aptitude tests would not be complete without this last series of challenging statements.

STATEMENT YES NO
Obstacles are made to be overcome. They are a source of opportunities.
I dislike inactivity. I like to keep busy, doing something constructive, even in my leisure activities.
I like doing things my way, even if it means doing things very differently.
I like to plan my moves, when the outcome is important to me. In fact, I believe I could not succeed without a well thought out plan.
Unforeseen events spur me on. I find them challenging.
Success is the result of planning, sustained efforts, and hard work. Luck generally has little to do with it.
I take pleasure in transforming uncertainty into manageable situations.
Long term commitment is key to reaching my goals.
I can concentrate on what I am doing. I can work long hours, and lose track of time.
I derive intense pleasure in achieving what others generally think impossible.
I am a motivated, patient individual.
I like being my own boss.

Had enough? You have arrived at the moment of truth. Even free aptitude tests have to give you a useful heads-up on your suitability for entrepreneurship.

Add the "Yes" answers. Here is what the total could mean. These are rough estimations, for further investigation. Use as a general guide only. You are using free aptitude tests, after all!

  • 30 to 27 : You are likely an entrepreneur already! If not, you are wasting precious quality time. Meanwhile, your employer is very fortunate to have you!

  • 26 to 20 : You have the profile of an entrepreneur. You can succeed on your own. Do investigate further.

  • 19 to 14 : You have the potential to become an entrepreneur. However, there are still some aspects that you are not comfortable with. You should definitely investigate yourself further, before attempting to go off on your own.

  • 13 to 9 : You are a borderline entrepreneur. You can become one, if you really work on yourself. Seek the help of a professional coach, to start you ff on the right foot.

  • 8 or less : Obviously, you will have to work with a partner who will complement your aptitudes and ability. You should think things through thoroughly before going off on your own. Seek professional guidance to help you in your decision.

My Recommendation

In almost all cases, one sure way of finding out if the free aptitude tests above have helped find out if you have the makings of an entrepreneur, while not losing precious time and money in the process, is:

  1. Start small.
  2. Start on a micro budget.
  3. Start part-time.
  4. Plan and build your own small business under expert guidance (see last paragraph).

I strongly recommend that you investigate building a small business online. Yes, why not become an Internet entrepreneur! That's what I did, and it was a wise decision.

  • No rent to pay.
  • No employees to pay.
  • No costly inventory to keep, if you start as an "infopreneur".
  • No startup cost, if you use what you already have (computer, internet access, telephone, etc.).
  • I can deduct a portion of my house expenses (electricity, insurance, taxes, etc) from my taxable income as an entrepreneur.
