Really Need
Free Sample Business Plans?

Book titled: 56 MILLION BEHIND AND RISING by Claude Jollet ISBN:142512828-9

Before you jump right down to the free sample business plans below, let me remind you that the intended primary audience of this web site is the one-person small web entrepreneur, or infopreneur.

Does the infopreneur need a business plan?

As a pure infopreneur, you may never need to write a formal business plan, because you may never need to (for example):

  • borrow to start or build your business,
  • apply for government regulated grants,
  • convince someone to become your partner,
  • convince a major supplier,
  • convince future share holders to buy in.

However, whatever your situation might be, you still have to do your homework. Before relying on free sample business plans as guides, you should - at the very least - undertake a personal set of documented actions. You must ensure that your web business idea is viable, and that it will effectively generate the income and enjoyment you expect.

To guide you in the actions to take, I have outlined the main areas you should explore, and document, in the section titled "Business Plans" of this site.

What if your business is more complex?

Business Plan Pro Premier

If you do think that you need to write a formal business plan for a given purpose, then please consider downloading any of the free sample business plans from the reliable sources below.

The examples of complete business plans will likely contain fictitious data. Any business plan sample is only meant to illustrate. Do not use them as is. You will have to modify and adapt them to your specific situation before you can use them. That is where the results of your homework will come in handy. Use your own judgment.

Make it a personal thing.

A business plan must be as personalized as your curriculum vitae (CV). The CV must always demonstrate that it was written with a specific employer in mind.

When you apply for a job, your CV must always show that you know what the company you want to work for is about, and how you can help them reach their goals.

In the same frame of mind, your business plan must make abundantly clear, to those you wrote it for specifically, that it is not only safe, but very likely profitable to do business with you.

Your business plan speaks of you and your business. It also speaks for you, in your absence. So, use your own arguments, not those of someone else. The future of your business depends on it.

The business plan for the more complex small to medium sized business should be prepared with the help of a specialist. Nevertheless, you should know what the business plan should at least cover and what a typical business plan format looks like.

For free, reliable information on what a business plan should contain, and how it should be prepared, I strongly advise that you visit the Business Start-Up Assistant (BSA) (opens a new window). You will find all the information you need there, and much more.

Amongst the given fine sources, the Royal Bank of Canada (opens a new window) offers excellent guides for the small business start-ups. You will find examples there of business plans that let you see how a well structured business plan looks like on completion.

The information available, at these two sites, applies to more than just the Canadian business context. With the free sample business plans and free business plan templates available there, and all the other useful information, you will only have to make minor adjustments for your local regulations and context.

Stay tuned!

Do come back often. I will be adding to this site regularly.
