Internet Online Advertising
The Right Way

Internet online advertising works in reverse … or the right way around. It depends on your point of view. I take the latter. After having had a few quiet and friendly words with their visitors, top web entrepreneurs over deliver and go out of their way to be helpful. The web visitors are agreeably surprised to find more than they had hoped for. The new and satisfied customers spread the word ... and come back for more.

The brain rules on the web

The web surfer makes the first move by doing a search with the use of a search engine. She will use her brain to choose the most logical keyword(s). You and your web site more or less "lie in wait" for her to find you.

Web surfers do not "wait" for your message to hit them. They actively look for your information. You only have to make sure it is valuable, factual, helpful. This is how internet online advertising is so different from traditional advertising "on land". The web surfer makes the first move. You then respond by being unusually helpful.

Traditional advertising, on the other hand, constantly makes the first move … again and again … until it finally reaches enough individuals to make a sale! That is very inefficient, to say the least!

Well, to be honest, you did make the first move, a proactive move, a planned move.

  1. You first created valuable and helpful content.
  2. You then structured your web site to make the content easily accessible.
  3. Then you used the same language (keywords) as your prospective customer.

You will have made it as easy for the web surfer to find you by using keywords you know she will use. (You will learn how to discover what those keywords are in the section on how to build a web site).

With internet online advertising, the first contact is brain contact, not eye contact! The web surfer's eyesight comes into play after, upon landing on a given page of your site. The brain analyses the information on the page … after it has found it. It had better be good … otherwise, click! … gone!

The consumers are ruthless when on the web. In a way, it is their "sweet revenge"!

How to draw attention on the web

Web surfers cannot notice your flashing neon sign as they drive by. You do not have a storefront on a busy street, nor do you have a large billboard on a highly visible location near a busy highway.

On the WWW, your site is only one of nearly 60 million others! Might as well be a grain of sand on the beach!

Web surfers do not look for you by name or brand name either … at least, not unless they already know you. If you are just starting out, it is unlikely that enough people know you to make a difference.

You may be unknown, but you and many web surfers already have something in common. A topic! The topic which is the subject of your passion … and the subject of their search. That topic will be your common meeting ground.

The topic you have in common - and the quality and usefulness of your site's content - will be your web equivalent of a brightly lit billboard.

Internet online advertising is so much more effective and efficient than traditional advertising, that web entrepreneurs can now successfully run a small business on the web.

You draw attention by speaking the same language as your intended clientele, and by over delivering. When you are that helpful, people notice and reward you twice:

  • They buy from you
  • They spread the word.

Word of mouth is free, so you can afford all the internet online advertising you want! Success is within reach of even the smallest of web entrepreneurs.
