Prison Entrepreneurship Program PEP
The Prison Entrepreneurship Program (PEP) turns murderers, gang leaders and drug dealers into responsible and productive citizens! In my opinion, the "PEP" is right up there with some of the most brilliant and generous ideas that I have ever encountered. Why? Because, before the "PEP", society was turning loose former criminals totally unprepared to implement and manage the necessary change in their former way of living. Astonishing OddsAfter having served their prison term, the vast majority of inmates was falling back on old but reliable bad habits to survive. Free again, they were back to square one, with no money and no other resources than a parole officer and a "good luck". Prison was not giving prisoners the key to free themselves from the shackles of their past. | Astonishing StoryBut Catherine Rohr changed things around by founding the "PEP". Hers is a fascinating story. She left a promising lucrative career as Director of Investment Development for American Securities Capital Partners in New York City, and as a venture capitalist at Summit Partners in Palo Alto to... Fight tooth & nails to get the program accepted by the prison authorities in Houston, Texas. Toil to get the program going after she got official approval. Work almost night and day to recruit MBAs to mentor inmates in their learning process. Tirelessly buildup the "PEP Network" of resources to support the "graduates" when they finally left prison to start a new life. Astonishing ResultsQuoting from the Prison Entrepreneurship Program Web site... As of June 2009... - Total graduates: 500

Mission accomplished, Catherine Rohr left the life-draining position of CEO in 2009. Thanks to her efforts and vision, and the help of countless volunteers, the Prison Entrepreneurship Program now thrives in Houston, Texas. I Can't Help But Think...Short on start-up funds but highly motivated and solidly mentored, these new entrepreneurs would greatly benefit from the step-by-step business-building power of SBI! 2.0 I know because I would not have been able to build my online business, from scratch, on a micro budget ... without SBI!
