What is essential to a successful small business web site promotion?

First

You need a business Web site that works ... one that gets significant traffic. It must have already proven itself worthy of being promoted! Otherwise, you risk promoting a "lame duck" :-(

But I hear you say: "Hey! I would not need to promote my Web site if it was already generating traffic and sales!"

Good. I see you're catching on.

Actually, you can enhance your Web site's presence on the Web, even if it is productive.

I just wanted you to be aware that you cannot save a site from utter oblivion ... with a promotion campaign, no matter how aggressive.

Sure. You may get a surge of attention (traffic). But it is just going to die down to its useless state soon after you stop your small business web site promotion!

Second

You need to automate the tedious, time consuming and highly complex task of submitting your Web site content to the search engines in a timely and respectful manner.

Please note. I said "... in a timely and respectful manner".

Timely: Each search engine has its rules. You must abide by them.

If not, the penalty is ... they just ignore your site, and leave you to wonder why your site is not getting traffic!

Respectful: Each search engine has its own way (algorithms) of analyzing your Web site content and your Web site visitors' behavior.

Offer page after page of useless content and your visitors just bounce out within a few seconds of landing on your site.

Search engines detect the "bounce" rate. If it's high they conclude that your site is not worth recommending!

The result? "More" no traffic (if that's at all possible at this stage).

Don't believe me? Try ignoring the the above recommendations. It's your money!
