Here's to your successYour success as a small web entrepreneur rests on how well you adapt your strategic business planning to the web before going into action. You can't foresee everything, of course. But, you don't have to go into business naively blindfolded either. You may need to know how to find
help starting a business
. Do not be afraid to look for it. You must ask yourself, and decide: - Do I want an entertaining hobby
or a successful small business on the web?
- Do I want to leave my success to chance
or put the odds on my side?
- How successful do I want to be? (think back to the "WHY" section if you have forgotten)
- Do I want to learn how to apply simple strategic business planning rules to my small web business project? For example, take a look at these simple
Web site marketing strategies
.
You must make every effort to strike a happy medium between being under-prepared and trying to make your strategic planning perfect. In fact, with the
proper course and guidance
, you can learn how to market your services or products online. You can even learn how to
price them just right
! Better still. Become an
affiliate
first, and add your own offerings later! Diversify your sources of income. How can you make it your business to become successful?
I have chosen to answer the "HOW" question in four parts (sections). The main purpose of each part is to give you a clear picture of one of four essential aspects of a successful web business. Each part details what you should consider Of course, each section is only part of the "big picture". Consequently, no section, even if understood and mastered, is sufficient in itself to ensure success. Here is, in point form, what each part is about: -
Business plans
- How to plan your small business on the web.
-
Site planning
- How to plan your web site structure and content.
-
Build it!
- How to build your web site to make your plans work.
- Action! - How to plan the tasks of taking care of business, once started.
The above could be considered the main project management steps you should take to start your small online business on the right foot. Please feel free to adapt them to your particular situation. One of my web entrepreneur candidates once came up with the following analogy. It should make wild life photography buffs smile. - Get to know the territory and the habits of your subject
- Plan the strategies and tactics you will use to catch your subject in the wild
- Study the land and find the best spot(s). Get settled in the one you think is best.
- Aim! Shoot!
Aim again!
Shoot!
Aim again!
Shoot!
Aim again!
How to divide to conquerThe main page of each of the above sections is designed as an introduction to its contents. Where appropriate, I have chosen to present the information as an outline. Here is why: I found that many individuals are not all that familiar with the process of structuring one's thoughts. Still others were introduced to the concept a long time ago in school, but have forgotten how or why. It should simplify your project task management. You will be able to make a checklist more easily. Problems lose all their foreboding complexity when broken down to their essential parts or structure. By using the outline form of presentation, I hope to help you get into the habit tackling business problems in a structured and methodical manner. You divide to better conquer.
Informed decisions
are best made when the problem to solve has been: - adequately
researched
,
- and broken down into its smallest manageable parts.
By the way
if at any point you feel overwhelmed by the amount of information I am giving you, please take a break! My recommendation: - Stand back periodically and look at the big picture.
- Then take it one step at a time.
No business, big or small, was ever built in a day! You will find that most of the information on my site is based on good old common sense. I took care to adapt it to the small web entrepreneur context. In turn, you can adapt your strategic business planning accordingly. I just break the big picture down to manageable size for you. As I do so, please note that I assume the following: - You start off alone (at least at first).
- You are a newbie (which may not be the case, of course).
- You have already read, and given some serious thought to, the "WHY", "WHO", "WHERE", "WHAT" sections of this site.
Finally, you will notice that I will have more to say about certain aspects of strategic business planning for the web, while I will only briefly mention others. I base such decisions on my experience coaching aspiring entrepreneurs, and on the feedback I get. However, the web entrepreneurship world is a dynamic and constantly evolving world. I will keep adapting my site content to this situation. Thus, my site will remain pertinent and useful to you. In fact, I have adjusted my strategic business planning to fit your special requirements and expectations. Who am I?Yes, who am I to give you advice on strategic business planning?
